Only a fortnight after celebrating our first birthday, we are very proud to be announcing our first ever official Arts Party candidate, to stand in the North Sydney by-election on 5th December. Not only is this a momentous day for the party, we also have a superb local candidate in Lou Pollard.
Lou Pollard is an exceptional woman. An MC, comedian, actor, writer and clown doctor. Mother of three wonderful daughters, aged 18,13 and 10. Please read more about her here.
Lou proudly stands by the principles of the Arts Party. We will be releasing core national policies throughout the campaign. We will also be focusing on some specific policy areas that Lou has highlighted as being of particular concern to both her and the residents of North Sydney, These include:
- Aged care affordability
- More support for mental health facilities (growing problem for young people in affluent areas)
- Housing affordability
- Wage and superannuation gap between men and women
- Domestic violence
- Child support services
We also need VOLUNTEERS to help us on the ground during the campaign. If you can commit any time at all to help us in North Sydney then please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org - your help will be invaluable.
This is the time to turn good intentions into action, both in the run up to 5th December and on the day itself. There will be 36 polling stations which we will need to have a presence at, to show people there’s a new voice and a better choice available in this election.
If you can’t physically lend a hand, you can still help us get the word out. Please forward this message to any friends or contacts you might have in North Sydney and share our election post on Facebook with your networks. Every bit helps!
Well I hope you’re as excited as we are to be undertaking this challenge. The purpose of the Arts Party has always been to foster popular support for the artists, audiences and cultural life of this country through electoral action. This by-election is our first opportunity to make as big a splash as we can!
Thanks for reading and I hope you’ll help us.
